Sharon Walker McCall, MS

Sharon earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with an emphasis in public relations from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master of Science in Communications from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with an emphasis in public relations. Sharon completed her thesis on the practice of stewardship and its role in the fund- raising process, and was selected by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Department of Communication Simmons Award in 2002. Sharon completed coursework in nonprofit management at Southern University and A&M College’s Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs.

She is founder of Community Partners, which is a non-profit organization that focuses on building knowledge of and participation in the philanthropic process in communities of color.

She is a member of LANO and Alliance for Nonprofit Management. She has been a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) since 1993 and served as the Baton Rouge Chapter’s delegate from 2000 – 2004. Sharon was on the AFP’s board from 2000 – 2002 and was Vice President of Philanthropy Day in 2000. Sharon was nominated by the AFP’s regional delegation and elected by the entire AFP national delegation to serve on the Committee on Directorship (COD). She served on the COD from 2002 - 2004. The COD was responsible for selecting the national AFP Board Members and recommending the slate of officers. Also, she is a former member of AFP’s national Membership/Chapter Services Committee, and a past recipient of the Baton Rouge AFP Chapter Chamberlain Scholarship.
